Tired? Rest.

I think the nesting phase of pregnancy has officially begun. Most of this past 3-day weekend consisted of cleaning, organizing, and mental exhaustion as I try to figure out ways to rearrange things to make room for the baby. We still have a couple months to go but it’s going to come super quick and with all the appointments and running around I have to do throughout the week I feel like time is limited. I want to be as ready as possible to minimize the amount of stress as the day of her arrival gets closer and closer. I have been having a hard time sleeping well at night lately too and I really felt the weight of it today. You ever have times like that; where you’re just in go mode and you completely forget to rest? Well, the word says in Exodus 20:8 that we are to honor the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. I think what God is saying to us through that scripture is that we need to take a day to rest up and put our focus back on him. Resting our mind, body, and spirit is important and it is clearly an instruction from God. He created the Sabbath day for us to use rest as a sign of worship and obedience. How good is he?! He not only allows us an entire day of rest but he considers it an act of worship to him! I don’t know about you, but rest sounds amazing to me right about now and the face that it gives God glory is just icing on the cake! Just to be clear, I don’t believe that God is saying that the Sabbath day is a free ticket to be a lazy bum all day doing nothing but watching TV or sitting on our butts consumed by social media. It is more so for us to come to a place where we see him without all the labor and distractions. I believe that in being obedient to resting in him [praying, reading the word, being thankful as you spend time with your family, etc.] he will renew our strength and help us to be re-energized, becoming more productive than if we were to just keep going. Just like what I learned about my first week blogging, taking a break makes such a huge difference! On that note, I am going to keep this one short and sweet so I can get some rest because clearly, God is calling me to do so. I hope that you have found encouragement to rest in the Lord’s presence today, whatever that may look like for you. Remember that it is a biblical instruction from God himself! So when you find yourself doing too much, lacking peace and order, rest! Stay blessed and unhindered!

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. – Exodus 20:8-10
