Babba has a doll with super long hair that needs routine maintenance. It needs to be gently brushed section by section otherwise the hairs get easily tangled and end up getting pulled out when brushing. Well, I am ashamed to say that we have not been very good at keeping up with her high-maintenance requirements so as you can imagine the poor doll's hair is full of knots that I am probably going to have to cut out.
Isn't life just like that? Without proper stewardship everything starts to gets all tangled up and messy. Before we know it we have a bunch of knots that we have to try to detangle without losing or cutting anything. Carefully combing each section of our life trying to smooth things out again. It ends up consuming more of our time and energy than if we would've just gave it some regular TLC. Know what I mean?
When we fail to keep up with the daily maintenance of our home it becomes a HUGE mess that takes a whole weekend and every member in your household to clean. When we procrastinate to tackle our to-do lists we end up rushing at the last minute to meet deadlines or just cancelling them all together. If we don't work at taking care of our minds we end up flustered and confused making it difficult to make decisions. Failing to steward our relationships, finances, health, etc. puts us in a place where sometimes it gets too mangled to come back from and we just have to cut things out. I can go on and on with examples but hopefully you get the point. We need to be good stewards of our lives in order to avoid the tangled mess that they will eventually become. Most importantly, God requires us to be good stewards of our spirits so that we can be well equipped for every good work that he calls us to (more specifics on this in a later blog post, stay tuned). Where there is a mess, there is a lack of stewardship. Take some time to evaluate what areas of your life might need some good detangling and get to stewarding! Love & blessings!
