Just Be Thankful!

January 10, 2017 Unhindered Design

Do you know what it's like to wake up every weekday morning already dreading the day and you haven't even gotten out of bed yet? Lately, it's been sort of a daily thing for my husband. When his alarm clock goes off I hear a, "UGH, I don't want to go to work." Now, I can totally relate to him as I know that feeling all to well. Most of us don't enjoy working for someone else 8 hours out of our day. It stinks! Especially when you just want to be elsewhere doing something that you know you would enjoy more. Well this morning I woke up feeling the opposite. I was so thankful to God for nothing in particular, just felt blessed. So when I heard my husband hating his morning it really hit a soft spot in my heart. That's my Mr.! It's hard to see him anything but happy. Even though going to work was the last thing he wanted to do he got up anyway and did what he knew he had to do for our family (bless his heart, I love him). And that just gave me even more to be thankful for. So I felt bad! It was hard to see him leave for the day knowing that I felt so good and he so didn't. Pregnancy hormones had me on the verge of tears over it! As soon as I got some alone time with God I prayed for him and asked God to give him a heart of thankfulness and the eyes to see his blessings.

Imagine if we all made an extra effort to take every negative thought captive and immediately asked God to show us something to be thankful for instead? Don't you think we would be much happier with our lives just as it is? We so often take for granted the things that we have been blessed with because we are too busy looking at what don't want or wish we had. But when we allow ourselves to see the things that we do have, life starts looking a lot brighter. Everything becomes clearer when you see through the father's eyes. When you look at yourself in the mirror you can't help but see beauty and possibility. When you look at your husband, suddenly he's even more handsome and strong. When you look at your kids you feel a sense of pride and amazement. Your circumstances suddenly don't look so bad and the future looks great. When we live with an attitude of thankfulness it makes God glad and he blesses us in return. When we ask him to help us see our lives through his eyes we get to see that we have more than we even deserve. So the next time you are tempted to complain about any part of your life, open up your eyes to your blessings and just be thankful! Love & blessings!
